Oracle National Security Group is seeking a **Principal Consultant** to join their Northern Virginia division.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Become an integral part of Oracle's support to the National Security customer and our enablement of enterprise systems, engineered systems, cloud, and Bare Metal Cloud - IaaS, PaaS, DBaaS, and SaaS growth and adoption. We are aggressively building high scale cloud technologies from the ground up (Compute, Storage, Networking, Governance, Database, and Load Balancing Services). If you're a database engineer with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems for highly available and highly secure services at massive scale, we are currently seeking Oracle Database Administration Specialists. Help us build the bedrock for the Enterprise Class Cloud of the future!
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
+ Provide all activities related to the administration of a massively scaled Oracle database fleet on site with IC customers, working independently or as member of an Oracle team.
+ Maintain and advance IC customer database systems and assist in upgrading performance in information protection rigor.
+ Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other service owners in the customers Oracle Mission, Enterprise, and Cloud ecosystems.
+ Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data, patching, and hardening.
+ Designs, implements and maintains complex databases, access methods, access time, devise allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security
**Qualifications:**
+ Possess an **Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with full scope polygraph**
+ Possess knowledge of performing detailed performance analysis, tuning and diagnostics for Oracle 11c and 12c Databases
+ Possess technical leadership experience to assure appropriate changes, upgrades, and enhancements are made based on the technical analysis
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field work
+ Five or more years of experience in Oracle Database Administration
+ Deep understanding and expertise in database management features
+ Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
+ Ability to work in an extremely fast paced and challenging environment
+ Excellent command of written and spoken English
**Detailed Description and Job Requirements:**
Work with Oracles world class National Security Group (NSG) team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database generation, coding, and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to IC user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity.
Provide Development and/or Production support. This includes creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, creating documentation, designing interfaces, database objects, and creating plans. Monitor and optimize performance of the database, plan for backup and recovery of the database, and allocate system storage and plan future storage needs. Create database-related scripts and programs to support development and production environments. Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan implementation of new or improved RDBMS, ETL(ODI), EDQ, and database tools.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with multiple distributed relational DBSMs or a depth and focus in Oracle and related tools. Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases for enterprise use is preferred. Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its database is desirable. BS or equivalent desired.
Direct experience with Oracle technologies such as Exadata, Big Data Appliance, Enterprise Data Quality, Real Application Cluster, Database Vault, Transparent Data Encryption, Multitenant, Oracle Data Integrator, Virtual Private Database, Fine-Grained Access, Linux, etc. is preferred.

5-7 years of experience relevant to this position including 2 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel as needed.
