### Responsibilities
**As a Government Information Specialist within the Office of Enterprise Information, some of your specific duties will include:**
* Provides Bureau privacy program advocacy, oversight, leadership, and guidance in coordination with the DOI Privacy Program while ensuring privacy laws, regulations, and policies are implemented and a privacy framework is established for the protection of privacy information.
* Addresses Bureau privacy program deficiencies with Bureau leadership and the Departmental Privacy Officer to improve program functions and maintain compliance with Federal and Departmental privacy requirements.
* Provides guidance and prepares responses to privacy-related inquiries from the Department and other internal and external oversight organizations including Office of Inspector General, Office of Management and Budget, and Congress.
* Represents Bureau on activities and requirements of the Privacy Act, privacy provisions of the E-Government Act, Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, and related Federal privacy laws, regulations, and policies.
* Serves as liaison and subject matter expert on Bureau privacy complaints, issues, and problems to assist and advise Bureau management, employees, and contractors regarding resolution of problems and privacy-related issues.

**Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?**
Because this position requires travel for official business, the selectee will be required to apply for a charge card within 30 calendar days of appointment. Individuals who have delinquent account balances from a previous Government charge card will be required to satisfy their existing obligation before a new card can be issued.
A background investigation will be required for this position. Continued employment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

### Qualifications
**GS-0306-12:**
Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level:
One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-11 level work: applying the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and corresponding Federal regulations, Executive Orders, Department of Justice (DOJ) guidance, and exemptions in order to process FOIA requests; analyzing documents for equities and responsiveness; reviewing documents for release determination; and redacting information that is exempt pursuant to the FOIA and the Privacy Act (PA).
**You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement**.
### Education
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
