CORRECTIONAL DIETARY REGIONAL MANAGER General
## Introduction
**This is a CONTRACTUAL position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.**

## Main Purpose of Job
The Correctional Dietary Regional Manager is the mangerial level of work responsible for managing several correctional food service programs located in the Baltimore region. This position supervises Correctional Dietary Managers and through them indirectly supervise Correctional Dietary Supervisors and the entire correctional food service staff within this region.
## POSITION DUTIES
Some of the duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
1) Plans organizes and directs the correctional food service programs within correctional facilities in the Baltimore region
2) Formulates food service policies, which may involve implementation and development of procedural manuals
3) Establishes and maintain standards for all food purchasing, production, serving sanitation and safety
4) Plans, organizes and directs in-service training programs for all food service personnel
5) Plans, organizes and coordinates food production with delivery and serving functions to assure that menu and production schedules are met
6) Develops sound cost accounting and purchasing practices to meet the needs of the food service programs
7) Directs the preparation of work schedules for food service personnel of the assigned institutions
8) Coordinates the implementation of medically required diets with production personnel
9) Maintains compliance with the facilities licensing and Baltimore City Health Department inspections
10) Coordinate with patch to assure all staff have been academy trained
11) Coordinate with the Human Resources Services Division - Nursing Unit to assure all staff are receiving their annual tuberculosis test.
12) Meet with all auditors to assure compliance.
## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in food service management, nutrition, dietetics, home economics, business administration, public administration or a closely related field.
Experience: Four years of supervisory experience in a large-scale food service operation in an institutional, commercial, industrial or similar organization.
Notes: 1. Additional experience as specified above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. A master's degree in food service management, dietetics, nutrition, home economics, business administration, public administration or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the Experience requirement.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in correctional institutional specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at a rate of two years of military experience for the required experience.
## LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
None.
## SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees who have not already done so must meet the required selection standards and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a correctional officer during their probationary period, (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209). Selection standards for correctional officer training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01 and include the following:
U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status
Must be at least 21 years of age
A completed background investigation
Oral interview
Physical examination.
2. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, must provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
3. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

## BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
